The Emergency First Aid at Work course is a new course which will be recognised by the HSE as from Oct 2009. HSE guidelines for First Aid in the Workplace are changing so we have already started to get ready for this. To read more about the changes click here. This course is ideal for companies with few employees and / or a low hazard rating according to an assessment of first aid needs.
Course contents:
The role of the First Aider
Cross infection
Recording incidents
The use of available first aid equipment
Assessing scene safety, act promptly and effectively in an emergency
Administer First Aid to the unconscious casualty and one who is in seizure
Administer First Aid to the non-breathing casualty
Administer First Aid to the choking casualty
Administer First Aid to the wounded casualty
Administer First Aid to a casualty in Shock
Administer First Aid to the wounded casualty
Provide First Aid for minor injuries including; small cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns & scalds & small splinters.Requalification:
This course is valid for 3 years from the date of satisfactory completion. It is then revalidated by completing the course again. It is highly recommended by the HSE that a Basic Skills Refresher course is completed each year.
