Sports First Aid Unit 1 is designed as a stand alone basic first aid qualifcation for those invloved in any aspect of Sport.

Sports First Aid Training Courses

The Sports First Aid course appears on the National Database of Accredited Qualifications (NDAQ) and has a 2 Unit Structure. Unit 1 Sports First Aid is run over one 7 hour day.  Most coaching awards now demand a minimum up to date first aid qualification as part of their validity.  You may find that you require more than a 7 hour course in which case you can attend Units 1 & 2 Sports First Aid.

A 7 Hour course covering systematic life-saving sports first aid. It includes essential knowledge, skills and decisions for all first aiders in the Sports sector, especially addressing the influence of sports activity upon casualty care.

Safe best practice, vital signs, a systematic approach to incident management, unconsciousness, causes and treatment, external bleeding, internal bleeding and shock, resuscitation procedures, including choking & awareness of current regulations. All scenarios are given in context and include the essential first aid you should provide to casualties in the sporting environment, including, athletic events, team sports, disability sports, water sports and adventure sports.

Unit 1 - Sport Emergency Action (7hrs)

A systematic life-saving sports first aid course covering the essential knowledge, skills and decisions for all first aiders in this sector, especially addressing the influence of sports activity and specialist equipment, such as gum shields, upon casualty care.

Monitoring conscious casualties
Unconsciousness, causes and treatment
External bleeding, internal bleeding and shock
Resuscitation procedures including choking
Awareness of current regulations

Fulfil your duty of care, statutory, authority and school obligations as a sports teacher, school journey leader, minibus driver and club instructor with this recognised award. The Level 2 First Aid for Sport qualification is currently eligible for LSC funding. Your establishment may well be able to draw down funding for an ITC Provider to deliver this course to your Sixth Form or adult sports team assistants.
